- COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE:Our Client is well established engineering/manufacturing business and world leader in their field. This role represents an excellent career opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager, who is technically competent and possess strong People and resource management skills.The successful candidate will be experienced in managing/facilitating the development of new products, working closely with design/development teams and customers. You will help to move the business forward and will have to people skills and experience to take the team with themReporting to the Plant Manager the successful candidate will have responsibility for between 20 and 30 personnel across a diverse range of disciplines, including Office Based Design, Structural and Electrical Engineers.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:• Manage and control the engineering costs/budget• Assist proposals with new design solutions.• Set project priorities.• Manage all of the companies engineering resource – Mechanical, Electrical and Structural.• Develop new equipment to resolve product challenges• Assist the Sunderland management team with strategic planning.• Supply monthly reports to the finance department.• Ensure that quotation costs are not exceeded when developing the engineering designs, and report any variances.• Implement cost reduction on products and components.• Conduct regular design review meeting on project.• Manage high value projects• Influence and manage the design of new products and equipment.• Manage and allocate suitably experienced project engineers to new contracts.• Resolve any design issues that may arise during the life of a project.• Work with the management team to achieve company objectives.
