- COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE:
Our client is a world class, award winning, long established and growing business, with strong and sustained investment in people, capital and plant. They produce specialist products and are an acknowledged International leader in terms of size and technical capabilities.
Reporting to the CEO, the Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for two key businesses/facilities which are linked via the supply chain. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced SCM seeking to develop their skills and experience.
The successful candidate must have a background in manufacturing engineering and understand foundries, heat treatment and forging, as the purchasing of raw materials, to be able to manufacture in house, is an essential part of the role.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing key supplier relationships.
- Developing new, and rationalise existing, sources of supply for all materials from the UK and abroad including forging, castings, patterns and dyes in accordance with business and market trends.
- Ensuring procurement processes and procedures are working effectively to maintain a sustainable supply chain and to reduce stock levels.
- Ensuring quality assurance procedures are being adhered to and minimising non conformities.
- Working closely with suppliers to develop a ‘Vendor Rating’ with particular focus on major commodities.
- Ensuring on time delivery in accordance with the planning tools operated by the businesses.
- Reviewing targets and prioritise orders so that production targets are met.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:- Certificate in Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) level 3 is a must with level 4 and above preferred.
- Must have previous management experience.
- The ability to lead and develop a team would be advantageous, (although currently there will be no direct reports)
- Experienced in strategic planning and running a cost effective supply chain, with suppliers that have a strong focus on safety, reliability and continuous improvement.
- The candidate must also possess a willingness to undertake international travel and be focused towards building long term relationships with suppliers.
- Must have the ability to negotiate commercial terms and conditions of business.
- Commercially aware.
