- COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE:Our client is a global, award winning, long established and growing manufacturing business (part of a multinational partnership), with strong and sustained investment in people, capital and plant. They are an acknowledged International leader in terms of size, market penetration and technical capabilities.Working with the UK Production, Quality, and Warehousing teams to ensure the successful fulfilment and on-time delivery of customer orders. This position will work closely with the Plant Manager to define the weekly and monthly manufacturing schedule to support both near-term orders and inventory builds for strategic customers. This position will also be deeply involved in planning for the capacity expansion of the UK manufacturing site. Must be able to manage supply and demand planning to balance the overall capacity plan of the plant.The successful candidate will have responsibility for the procurement, delivery, and stock keeping of raw materials used in the manufacture and packaging of battery separators as finished goods. This task also includes working on cost reduction and improving the value proposition offered from suppliers.Working collaboratively with all partners while understanding and prioritising orders for the overall success of the company. In this role, the Supply Chain Manager is expected to develop strategies for improving the productivity and efficiency of operations, including recommendations with regard to tooling, for the timely delivery of product to customers.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:• Establish stretch goals and metrics while motivating their Customer Service / Logistics team to meet them.• Report on a weekly basis to the Production, Sales, and Management teams.• Develop, monitor, and promote the use of defined best practices in Supply Chain Management• Understands UK export reports and process; verifies that the export documentation is submitted timely• Oversee Customer Care Department and ensure it verifies correct product, quantity, price, terms and conditions in PI (Proforma Invoice) and PO (Purchase Order)• Maintains shipment schedules and communicates with customers in a timely fashion regarding estimated arrival time at destination• Preparation and timely provision of shipping document to customers• Track all sample requests by outside sales teams and confirms with Chief Technology Officer (CTO) before samples are made• Anticipate and drive action plans to mitigate customer service risks by coordinating inventory pre-build, manages Min-Max inventory stock levels to maintain on time in full (OTIF)• Manage supply and demand planning to balance the overall capacity plan of the plant• Analyse all customer orders and align production resources to meet customer requirements.• Provides key input and direction for the preparation of monthly production/inventory plans• Monitors the status of the production plan and makes changes as appropriate when business and production conditions change• Manage the internal inventory plan including all on-site and off-site warehousing• Schedule, expedite and coordinates the delivery and movement of raw materials• Coordinate monthly inventory control meetings with Senior Management, Sales and Operations.• Responsible for the purchase and scheduling of raw materials• Work closely with corporate in contract negotiations of raw materials with a global supply base• On-going analysis of the raw material usages and cost.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:• Demonstrable Experience gained in a similar role (preferably within the chemical or process sector)• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 systems• Supervisory Management• Highly IT/Business Software Literate• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to read, analyse, and effectively interpret documents.• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to then develop reasonable solutions.• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations and apply basic statistical, algebraic concepts, and also work with concepts such as commissions, percentages, etc.• knowledge of international shipping requirements and understanding of INCOTERMS• Able to maintain a positive attitude while working through challenges• Previous experience in manufacturing/FMCG• Working knowledge of ERP / MRP systems• High level of ability with Excel• Ability to collaborate with other departments such as sales and production• Excellent organizational and planning skillsPREFERRED• Certified Institute of Purchase & Supply (qualified or part qualified) or equivalent contract negotiation skills• Knowledge of Principles relating to lean tools (5S / TPM / standard run etc.)• Knowledge of AxaptaNB: This position may require occasional travel.Details of Package: Up to £55,000 + Bonus + Benefits (Bonus up to 10%) Mon to Fri 0800 to 1700 with Flexible working.
