Our Client is a long established engineering/manufacturing business and leader in their field.
This role represents an excellent career opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, seeking to develop their career within a highly professional Design team. 
 
Working as a key part of the growing product introduction team, the successful candidate will apply mechanical engineering knowledge and will be tasked with component design from concept to production, working with spec., cost and timescale parameters.  The successful Candidate will be involved in producing reliable, desirable and profitable products.  The ideal candidate, will have a good grounding mechanical engineering combined with knowledge/experience of Injection Moulding and Design of Consumer Goods. Knowledge of Solidworks and/or Creo
 
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research, review and understand relevant standards and customer specification
Become knowledgeable in the detail, construction and performance of existing product and/or new designs requirements
Support and / or lead development projects, being able to apply engineering calculations  and compare with actual measured results 
Design products using CAD, and consult with engineering and manufacturing colleagues to ensure that designs are feasible and delivered to an agreed project plan
Develop and build prototypes, and run tests to measure their level of function
Record and evaluate testing data, altering designs as necessary to bring them to safety, performance and efficiency standards
Research competitor products quarterly and collaborate with product development team to generate ideas for making our products the best ones on the market
Calculate cost estimates for final product designs, and release reports incorporating costs of labour, material, delivery and overhead
Assist in fault finding and quality investigations
Provide progress reports, and work with others to help optimise business performance
 
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Preferably BEng in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) 
Understanding of Injection Moulding
Knowledge/Experience of Consumer Goods Product Design and related assembly processes and production
2D/3D CAD and drawing standards and proficiency with CAD (Preferably Creo or Solidworks)
Desirable, but not Essential:
Industry standards (LVD, EMC etc) and Patent law
Understanding of component costing
Understanding of component manufacturing simulation techniques
Model making skills and Understanding of tooling design
Understanding prototyping techniques
Good understanding of DFM techniques 
Understanding of product test criteria
