- COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE:Our client is a world class, multi award winning, long established and growing manufacturing business, with strong and sustained investment in people, capital and plant. They produce specialist products and are an acknowledged International leader in terms of size and technical capabilities.The successful candidate will be directly responsible for process managers and shift supervisors and lead and manage the Operations function to deliver/exceed the key business metrics with a particular focus on Safety; Environmental Compliance; Quality; Cost; Delivery & People Development.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:• Making proactive improvements to the Health & Safety culture and performance of the Plant whilst maintaining a safe working environment that complies with all applicable regulations, ensuring resources under your control adhere to and seek to improve Health and Safety standards for all operational functions and manufacturing areas and effectively collecting and analysing data from the operational functions and supervisors.• Deliver all products and services to the highest quality standards expected by both internal and external customers.• Delivering Plan: Effectively deploy the resources available, to ensure timely execution of customer orders• Manage costs within agreed operating budget, and actively encourage/support/deliver cost reduction initiatives.• Deliver Business Improvement/Change through the use of Lean Manufacturing and TPM methodologies, drive continuous improvement/change initiatives through the operational functions, to ensure the performance of each function meets or exceeds all key business metrics,• Have overall responsibility for the development of all employees within the operations function and ensure they possess all the relevant skills, competencies and behaviours required to fulfil their responsibilities.• Ensure Environmental Compliance, ensuring the site is working within strict EA permit requirements, & is satisfying ISO 14001 as a minimum, with particular emphasis on solvent control.QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:• ESSENTIAL:Must be educated to HND/Degree or Equivalent.• Proven experience in a production or operations management role within a fast paced and high volume process manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on machine uptime, OEE and TPM• Excellent leadership and management skills – able to inspire, empower, persuade and engage, and overcome resistance to change at all levels• Ability to lead cost reduction projects across the Plant• Demonstrable experience of people development and continuous improvement through quantifiable achievement• Self-motivated and ambitious• Dynamic, charismatic, and engaging• Deadline / completion orientatedDESIRABLE:• HND/Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Scientific or Technical discipline would be advantageous, but not essential• Lean Manufacturing Black belt Accreditation would be advantageous, but not essential• Working knowledge of Environmental Permit/ISO14001/18001/9001/50001
