- COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE:Our Client is well established engineering/manufacturing business and world leader in their field.This role represents an excellent career opportunity for an experienced professional.The successful candidate will support the installation, commissioning and on-going support of electronic converters and electrical machines.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:• Provide in-field technical support for power electronic converters and electrical machines, including installation, commissioning and after sales technical issue resolution.• Liaise with customer support and engineering teams to arrange site visits, access to equipment and necessary on-site support• Represent the company in a professional manner, demonstrating technical competence and responsive to customer requests.• Write reports, internal and external, outlining activities and findings. This will involve the collection, interpretation and organisation of collected test data• Participate in engineering design activities to provide input that reflects the requirements of installer and service teams as well as the end user.• Be able to demonstrate a structured approach to fault finding and technical issue resolution on electrical installations or products.• Lead and participate in fault finding and in-field issue resolution activities and investigations.• Ensure operating safety of in-field equipment is assured.• Identify and report when additional support is required from other functions within the organisation: Engineering, commercial, operational and/or other functions.• Undertake in-house testing to gain further understanding of product behaviour both in isolation and in application.• Actively follow the Company’s Health and Safety Policy, Procedures and safe systems of work, and be responsible for your own health and welfare, working with colleagues to ensure that the working environment is safe. This includes following instructions and actively participating in training and development to ensure compliance and best practice in this area.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:• Essential: Btec in electrical related discipline or equivalent• BS7671:17th wiring regulations. (An HND OR Degree in an electrical related discipline would be advantageous)• Demonstrable and practical experience in completing as an electrical test engineer at 240/415V+• Completing electrical wiring to BS7671 requirements.• Demonstrable experience in completing technical reports in an accurate and timely manner.• Be able to demonstrate a structured approach to fault finding and technical issue resolution on electrical installations or products.• Use of basic instrumentation including, for example, a volt meter, current meter, power analyser and oscilloscope.• Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook• Good computing skills.• Ability to plan details of an activity• Ability to communicate verbally and orally to customers and managers• Ability to manage, interpret and organise data.• It would be desirable to have experience in the use of advanced instrumentation including, for example, logic analyser and EMC test equipment.
