- COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE:This is a fantastic opportunity for a Managing/Senior Quantity Surveyor AND also a Quantity Surveyor, to work for an established, highly successful specialist Company, within a key rapidly. The role will be based from their Head Office in Teesside. Our client’s key markets include, Offshore Oil and Gas, Onshore LNG, and Offshore Wind Renewables as well as othersYour remit will be to evaluate, maintain and forecast accurate cost and value for designated elements of projects by means of measurement, estimation, calculation, administration, contract (and subcontract) interpretation and negotiation.Our award winning client has a strong training and development culture, a robust ethics policy, a first class safety record, and high staff retention. The roles come with excellent packages, (negotiable) designed to attract the best candidate.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:• Review & assist in negotiating acceptable terms and conditions on enquiries to minimise contract risk and to ensure favourable payment terms, minimum bonding and warranty requirements;• Commercial Management of projects to ensure positive cash position of the company by timely invoicing and minimising amounts recoverable on projects;• Commercial Management of projects to ensure variations are issued to clients at the earliest opportunity and in line with Contract;• Financial control of project costs and forecasting of costs through to completion & assist and monitor the contract review process;• Represent the company at relevant meetings/discussions - internal / external;• Assist the company in achieving the Annual Budget in terms of profitability;• Ensure the projects achieve as a minimum budgeted margins and manage project cash flow;• Ensure the project team realise all opportunities for contract growth through the exploitation of possible new scopes of work;• Ensure and maximise contract growth through the efficient cost management of the project and the variation to order process;• Adherence to and full awareness of client contracts;• Adherence to and awareness of Company Policy and procedures;• Perform tasks which may be requested by Management from time to time;• Support all functions performed within the Commercial Department;• Identify, evaluate, process and agree variations with client and subcontractors;• Compile and process applications for payment with clients and subcontractors;• Administer contractual correspondence with clients and subcontractors;• Maintain detailed working knowledge of Company’s business, contracts, systems and procedures to support Cost & Contracts functions;• Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times;• Support the Project Manager in administration of contracts and subcontracts including correspondence, meetings etc.;• Identify cost trends, potential savings and commercial opportunities;• Undertake Site Measurement.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:• Degree in Quantity Surveying (preferred but not essential depending on experience)• Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience (Pre & Post Contract experience)• Robust Technical skills with the ability to:• Interpret and administer Contracts; interpret, read, take off, mark up and measure complex technical drawings; interpret and review technical specifications; undertake site measurement; Identify and value change.• Good understanding of IT software packages utilised by the Company;• Sound planning & organisational skills to compliment function and responsibilities;• Good communication and interpersonal skills towards all stakeholders (internal and external).• Highly motivated• Excellent Excel skills.• Sub-contracts background - Manufacturing / Fabrication with a strong structural background preferred (multi-discipline experience would also be beneficial particularly in E&I and HVAC)Details of Package: £40,000 to £80,000 (depending on experience) + Car or Car allowance + Benefits
