- COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE:Our client is a global leader providing thermal management solutions to major electronics OEMs. The company designs, develops and manufactures advanced cooling solutions for the telecommunication, medical, military and aerospace markets. To take advantage of this expanding market they require a highly motivated individual to join their team.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:• To act as principal point of contact for engineers from customer & external organisations• To work closely with the Sales Department to ensure customers’ expectations are met and to provide additional support for customer visits and exhibitions• To prepare Cost Estimates for all enquiries• To prepare the budgets for all Prototype Purchase Orders• To ensure product schedules are maintained during development• Project management and engineering of solutions for customer applications• Developing designs to full prototype, pre-production and leading into series production levels by way of ERP data entry• Liaise with manufacturing engineers & technicians to manufacture and test prototypes for customer applications and research projects• To liaise with Manufacturing Engineers and the Production Department to ensure that any processes introduced meet client and Customer requirements• To provide problem solving support to other departments and suppliers when required• To develop and distribute relevant Engineering documentation and CAD data• To ensure that project related information is maintained and archived in accordance with Departmental procedures• To host Qualification and Standards Audits from an Engineering point of view• To collate and distribute Weekly Reports detailing Engineering revenue and open project orders• To ensure that good housekeeping prevails within area of control• To work with due regard to Health and Safety requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics or Higher National Certificate in Engineering with relevant experience.• A minimum of 5 years Engineering experience in a design, development and manufacturing environment• Must have Thermal and Mechanical experience• Highly numerate and computer literate• Analytical problem solving skills• Excellent communication skills• Excellent technical writing capability• Expert knowledge of 3D CAD design tools and experience in one of the following areas: Machined Components, Extrusions, Sheet Metal• Thorough working knowledge of an Engineering Design group• Must be able to demonstrate high flexibility• Must be adaptable and have ability to learn new techniques• Accurate and diligent• Ability to manage time, priorities and information efficientlyDesirable:• Basic knowledge of thermal solutions design• Basic knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid flow• Basic knowledge in a commercial CFD package• Basic knowledge of Electrical and Electronic aspects of engineering and instrumentation in particular• Supervision skills
